How to Prepare for your Socratic Seminar
Groups: Decided by Mrs. Hyshka
One Person sets up a Google Doc and calls it:
Macbeth-First Name, First Name, First Name
Invite all group members and Mrs. Hyshka
Research Process -- Each Day of Four:
The work outlined represents the minimum amount of work each person should do.
Each person addresses two essential questions. These questions are found at the beginning of the Macbeth unit on Moodle. You should divide the questions fairly amongst the group members. The research and conclusions are added to the Google Doc. Each day has a particular colour.
Day 1: Red
Day 2: Green
Day 3: Blue
Day 4: Orange
This means that each of you will have addressed two of the essential questions. Do not be afraid to develop your own questions. They are certainly relevant.
Your entry would be set up like this and coloured the correct colour for the day:
John Smith:
Question: What is Macbeth's true nature?
Text References: supply at least 4 places in the text that directly addresses this question.
Outside References: supply 2 outside discussions of the question (scholarly article) and the bibliographic entries
Summaries of Articles: write a short summary of each scholarly article you read
Conclusions: Provide 2 complete paragraphs that show that you have read the text and the articles and thought about the question and come to some conclusions. These paragraphs should be well constructed and thoughtful.

This exemplar is one from the Hamlet study done last year. It is not exactly the same as what you are to produce as the criteria has changed, but it will give you some idea of what is expected.
